Sucker Punch continues to present some of the weapons we will find in Ghost of Yotei on October 2 for PlayStation 5. This greater variety of armaments, which includes firearms, is one of the new features compared to Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei: Focus on the Ōdachi
On this occasion, the spotlight is on the ōdachi, a large sword that requires a different playstyle than katanas. The attack speed is slower, which forces players to adopt a more defensive style, deflect attacks, and wait for the right moment to deliver a powerful strike that finishes off enemies.
The ōdachi were used in battles, sometimes between two soldiers and as the first line against enemy cavalry, although most of their uses were more ceremonial and as symbols of war, since they were not always practical compared to other, more manageable weapons.
Already Finished and Arriving on Time
Ghost of Yotei is a new standalone adventure from Ghost of Tsushima, set in a new historical period (1603), with a new location and protagonist, Atsu, who seeks revenge against a group of renegade samurai in the lands of Hokkaido.
After the launch in one month, throughout 2026 the Legends mode will arrive, which, just like in the first Ghost of Tsushima, will allow us to play in online co-op, fighting alongside other players in missions that introduce fantastical elements from Japanese mythology.
